Charity of the Year Announced

Brampton Recruitment announces charity of the year

Brampton partners with CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young

Award winning Staffordshire and Cheshire based recruitment agency, Brampton Recruitment has officially unveiled its charity of the year following a unanimous vote by staff.

Brampton Recruitment will be supporting Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) by organising and participating in a programme of local fundraising events throughout the year. Previous collaborations with other local charities have been wildly successful.  The agency has previously worked with the Peter Pan Centre for children with special needs, raising a total of £1,357 and the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, assisting with fundraising and generating prizes for its annual ball.

Brampton Recruitment is hoping that these activities will not only produce donations, but will also raise awareness of CRY’s important work.

“At Brampton Recruitment, we understand the importance of supporting our local community. Working alongside charities is one way in which we can contribute to making a difference in Staffordshire,” explained Claire Leigh, director of Brampton Recruitment.

“Daniel Hughes, a young man of 28 from Stoke-on-Trent, suddenly passed away in his sleep in 2015. In the years following, his parents have raised over £76,000 to provide heart screenings, through a memorial fund with CRY” continued Leigh. “Daniel’s story is one of the reasons we decided to support CRY in its mission to reduce young sudden cardiac death.”

CRY, founded in 1995, aims to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD), and support young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening conditions and their families. The foundation offers local heart screening services, bereavement support and funds medical research and fast track referral.

“Brampton Recruitment has links to major companies in the area and we are grateful to use this network to help raise CRY’s profile and increase awareness of the importance of heart screening,” said David Hughes, father of Daniel Hughes and supporter of CRY.

“At our first heart screening event in 2016, 17-year-old Lucy Smith was rushed straight to hospital as a result of an abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG). Following eleven days of tests, Lucy was fitted with a pacemaker and will now go on to live a normal life,” continues Hughes. “With Brampton’s help and support we hope to raise enough funds to stage further screening days and find people with similar problems before it is too late.”

Brampton Recruitment will be fundraising at Asda in Wolstanton on May 20, and appearing at the annual football tournament at Audley Football Club in Bignall End on June 3. For more information, or to take part in fundraising for CRY, call 01782 667591.
