Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrable success within a procurement role is essential, and candidates will ideally have a history of dealing with engineering, manufacturing supply chains preferably within the cast iron and steel fabrication supply base.
  • Although not essential, a CIPS qualification would be highly advantageous.
  • Highly numerate. (Proficient in Microsoft office products and ERP systems)
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Ability to communicate and operate with cross functional departments
  • Understanding of full supply chain costs and trade offs
  • Experience of supply chain relationship management
  • Appreciation of Corporate Social Responsibility, specifically Environmental & Sustainability, throughout the supply chain

Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Purchasing Manager to join a market leading engineering organisation based at their site in Stoke on Trent. As the Group Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for planning and organising the company’s procurement activities to ensure the overall performance of the supply chain is optimised.

  • As the Group Purchasing Manager you will ensure on time in full supply of materials to support manufacturing and assembly timelines for customer delivery.
  • Continual improvement of supply base against a balanced scorecard
  • As the Group Purchasing Manager you will ensure that Service levels from suppliers meet demand
  • Negotiate with suppliers on cost, quality and credit terms
  • Interpret drawings
  • Analyse in-house manufacturing costs versus outsourced manufacturing ensuring capacities and cost understood.
  • As the Group Purchasing Manager you will be continually working on improvement and cost reduction projects
  • As the Group Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for Vendor Management
  • Inventory and Consignment stock
