Job Description:
Our client is an established firm of solicitors based in Stoke-on-Trent, specialising in a wide range of commercial work for owner managed businesses and specialist private client work. They are looking for a full time Legal Cashier to join their team.
As a Legal Cashier you will be responsible for the following:-
- Daily banking and bank reconciliations
- BACS and CHAPS payments
- Process client payments
- Monitor bank accounts for incoming client funds and bank transfers
- Handling general queries from fee earners and auditors
- Process inter account transfers
- Process invoices (internal and purchase ledger) and check completion statements
- Ensuring compliance with SAR, money laundering and VAT regulations
- Credit control
Candidate Requirements:
- Ideally AAT qualification or part qualified to Level 3 (willing to consider QBE)
- A good understanding of double entry book-keeping is essential
- An advanced understanding of Excel and be used to dealing with complex multi-sheet spreadsheet using functions and formula
- Some basic understanding of using and setting up Macros would also be an advantage
- People management and communication skills are important to manage an established team of 4 Accounts Assistants
- Ability to prioritise and plan personal workload is essential
- Personable character with a sense of humour
Job Description:
Working for a well-established Solicitors based in Stoke on Trent our client is looking for an Accounts Supervisor to join their Accounts Team. The Accounts Supervisor will work directly to the Finance Manager and the Board in the production of monthly and weekly reports as required to assist in the smooth management of the business. In addition to the role it will also include supervision of the Accounts Assistants.
Main responsibilities for the Accounts Supervisor role will be: -
- Production of weekly fee reports to Department Heads
- Production of weekly finance graphs for consideration by the Board
- Production of monthly management accounts
- Supervising Accounts Assistants and being the first point of contact for any support required
- Providing assistance to the Finance Manager in preparation of year-end financial statements
- Supervision and / or posting of purchase ledger with prepayments
- Review of nominal postings
- Journals
- Reconciliations
- Calculation of month end prepayments and accruals
- Acting in compliance with the SAR
- Providing support to Accounts Assistants when required due to holiday / illness cover
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA or ACA) with practical experience
- Candidates from practice who are looking for a new challenge, however candidates looking for a move from industry back into a practice with a different approach will be considered too
- Ability and willingness to travel to clients within the North West region
- Lots of enthusiasm and an ability to build strong, positive relationships with clients as well as be a team player
- Technical skills to include all Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) plus Iris and Sage
