As part of our dedication to recruitment in the local community, we have recently visited Werrington Primary School to provide the students with advice on different job roles in business. Senior Recruitment Consultant, Vikki Cave visited the school in June to discuss the personality traits most compatible with management, sales, customer service, engineering and accountancy roles.
During the talk, Vikki explained the importance of good management within business. Students were asked to participate by suggesting personality traits suitable for different jobs roles. Vikki and the students also acted out examples of poor management to highlight common problems.
The talk was organised as part of Brampton Recruitment’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy. We signed up to Inspiring the Future last year. The programme matches local schools and colleges with businesses, who visit the school to discuss topics relevant to their area of expertise.
Previously, Brampton Recruitment have run mock interview workshops in schools, colleges and universities where we offered guidance on writing CVs, using a recruitment agency and preparing for job interviews.
“Employability isn’t always based on experience and qualifications,” explains Vikki Cave. “Personality and drive are also major factors and these develop at a much younger age. This is why we believe children should receive careers advice in primary school.
“Careers advisors are present in most schools, but students need more support. Because we work in the recruitment sector, we are able to identify the knowledge gaps that hold young people back when searching for a career. For example, they might not be aware of the value of temporary or voluntary work, or what skills they should highlight on their CV. Helping young people overcome these problems, makes our work with educational institutes extremely rewarding.”
For its CSR policy, Brampton Recruitment also volunteers charity and fundraising time to The Peter Pan Nursery; an educational facility for children with special needs. You can sponsor us for our regular activities here – https://goo.gl/kzeYUB.
