On Friday night the Brampton Team (plus spouses) were out in force at the Dougie Mac 50th Birthday Ball hosted by their patron, Jonathan Wilkes.
It was a night of glitz and glamour, sparkles and sequins, bow ties and ball gowns. More importantly, it was a night of bids, bids and more bids! And I promise, we placed our fair share of bids and more!! Claire was after pizzas (40 of them, no less!), Hayley wanted to bathe in Versace whilst Rach, well….she was just after the gin! And Hayley narrowly missed out on an amazing sounding taster menu experience in the heads and tails game – she was a little disappointed she didn’t have the winning bid in the end. But never has the old saying “it’s not the winning, it’s the taking part” been more apt because no, we didn’t win, but we were absolutely delighted to take part in this marvellous event for such an inspiring and deserving local charity. A brilliant night of celebration was had by all, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be a part of it.
Dougie Mac has been caring for the community since 1973, amalgamating with The Donna Louise Trust in March 2021 to offer care across two sites in Blurton and Trentham. Costing £2,000 per hour for this charity to run, it was humbling and heart-warming to see so much activity and hand-raising from local businesses and local people digging deep to support the work they do. Tens of thousands of pounds were raised at the event, but the work will never stop – with 1 in 2 people being affected by cancer, highlighting this charity is so important and every little helps.
