Brampton Recruitment apprentice Ebony Jayne-Washington has made her colleagues at Brampton Recruitment proud as she celebrates her first anniversary with the company.
Ebony joined our nine-strong female team in August 2013 on an apprenticeship through Newcastle College, and proved so enthusiastic to learn that she completed her two year NVQ Level 2 course in Business Administration in just 14 months.
And the 18-year-old’s passion for her new role and ability to learn quickly led her to be nominated in the Apprentice Of The Year category of The Sentinel Business Awards.
Charlotte Walker, Recruitment Team Leader at Brampton Recruitment, said: “Ebony was our first apprentice, and given her excellent performance we’re certainly considering taking on another one. She’s truly a credit to herself.
“She demonstrates great promise for the future, and we’re already training her up in additional duties to take her to the next level of her career such as Payroll, which is a very responsible task within the business.
“We also plan for her to study for the Recruitment and Employment Confederation Diploma in January, which is a professionally recognised award within our sector.”
Now Ebony’s next goal is to put her pay cheques towards passing her driving test before the cold winter weather sets in as she currently walks to work from her family home in the Milehouse, Newcastle.
She adds: “I never really wanted to go to college, as I prefer learning on the job as that’s definitely more me and I think I’ve gained so many skills.
“I came to Brampton because they have a really good reputation and recruitment was something I could see myself doing.
“I like being busy, having responsibility for certain tasks like our social media and looking after temps, and every day is different. I get to speak to lots of different people and I’ve learned loads within a short space of time.
“All my friends know how much I love my job and I’ve even helped one of them find work after they left college.
“I definitely want to stay in recruitment, and I’d like to stay here and become a consultant as the whole team are really supportive.
“I was their first apprentice and they all celebrated this milestone with me by taking me out for a meal and my parents are really proud too.”
