Where are all the accountants?
According to reports from industry body the ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) there is a national talent shortage leaving firms struggling to find qualified professionals. And the net result? Increased competition among employers to find staff and a wealth of great roles available at Brampton Recruitment with salaries of more than £20,000.
One accountancy graduate who managed to secure a permanent role through Brampton Recruitment is Thomas Dent, who’s now celebrating six months working as an assistant accountant at a worldwide company at their head office in Stoke on Trent.
Thomas, who lives in Endon, said: “I’ve always been interested in accounting and studied accounting and finance at Staffordshire University where I got a first class degree.
“Yet jobhunting was quite a struggle to be honest, largely because I didn’t have much experience at that stage.
“I’d put my CV online via jobsboards, but I was surprised Brampton had jobs like this.
“I went through three interviews and Vikki Cave helped by liaising with my current boss to find out what questions they were likely to ask me and what preparation I needed to do. When Vikki told me I’d got the job I was absolutely delighted.
“I’ve been here six months now and I’m very happy with the role as it’s really varied. I’m full-time and my main aim is to pass my remaining financial accountancy exams so I can progress, as I’d like to buy my own home at some stage.”
We are urging accountancy jobseekers to get in touch now because of the excellent opportunities which currently exist. We have been inundated with roles for both qualified and graduate positions, all of which are good career roles with excellent starting salaries and the smart accountancy students who are due to graduate in the next couple of months, should also be getting in touch now to get a head start on the competition and have their pick of the best roles with some really major players as well as smaller local firms.
